Little Cabin in the woods…

Little piece of happiness

One of my very good friends and I decided to get away for a couple of days. The goal was to get out of town, but within driving distance and to keep it as low key as possible.

We found an affordable cabin that met our requirements. We were able to remove ourselves from our “daily routines” and spend some time in a bare essentials cabin and just relax. Not only did we get in some great trail running we had the opportunity to test out new cooking techniques with the outside grill (instead of an oven/stove) and a microwave.

The weather was wet and chilly but the cabin was warm and toasty with a great view of the lake. Consensus? Mission accomplished!

Cute Lil' Guys on the Trail

In the middle of a trail run, my running buddy and I came across these cute little guys sitting on a rock that was placed nicely up in a tree that always has surprises.

I think these little guys are one of my favorites!

Slip and slide run

Over the hills and through the woods…but not to grandma’s house. A Saturday morning trail run on what would normally be a fun and fast loop. Instead, we were greeted with cold temps, soggy trails, slushy mud, knee-deep creek crossings and an occasional mud slide (both uphill and downhill).

Could it be any better 😉
